Tips And Tricks
Covering Plain Jane Chipboard With Metal Tape
This is one of my favorite ways to embellish our Plain Jane Chipboard...and it's easy and cheep!! You can purchase metal tape (some times known as insulation tape) at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc.
1. To begin you will need: Metal tape, Plain Jane Chipboard (I'm using hearts here), stylus, bone folder and acrylic paint.
2. Cut off a piece of metal tape slightly larger than your chipboard. Peel off the backing from the metal tape and adhere your chipboard shape onto the tape.
3. Trim metal tape around the shape, leaving just enough extra tape to fold over the back of your shape.
4. Fold the metal tape over the back of your chipboard.
5. Using your bone folder, burnish edges of your chipboard to make them smooth.
6. Use your stylus or any pointed edge tool to doodle into your metal tape.
7. Spread black acrylic paint onto your covered chipboard, getting into all of the doodled areas and wipe off with a paper towel.
8. Keep repeating this step until you have the black acrylic paint in the doodled areas.
9. Finish by adding a second color onto the chipboard piece, again wiping off any excess with a paper towel. Adhere to your layout for an awesome embellishment!!
On this layout "Stuck," I used Plain Jane Chipboard Stars and black and green acrylic paint to cover them with.
We would love to see any layouts YOU create using this technique!! Email your layout to us using our Plain Jane Chipboard and maybe you'll see it here!
